Title: L'etape du California
Post by: wbturek@yahoo.com on March 05, 2012, 06:09:41 PM
I'm riding the etape, which follows the course of the penultimate stage of this year's tour of California including the climb up Mt. Baldy on April 28th.  There are some preview rides - I'm going to do the one on Saturday, April 7th, and would LOVE some company to share gas costs (and companionship, of course). It's about an hour and a half each way, meaning an early start and late return.  Here's the route: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/70617374 (http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/70617374) and here's more information about the ride(s): http://www.catriathlon.com/letape-du-california-course-previews.html (http://www.catriathlon.com/letape-du-california-course-previews.html).  I'll be on Sean's ride this Saturday, and check the forum fairly often, so let me know if you're on board.

See you on the road!

Bill

Bill, I may be up for it.
The only thing is that there's a road race in Bakersfield the following day.
So if I'm not doing the road race I'll most likely join you.

Rode it last year.  Trained by doing PAlomar DOubles.   Ugh.  Was a fun thing to "accomplish!"     Have a blast ... hope it is not hot.  We saw guys puking, guys with paramedics helping ... guys laying on the ground ... walking - or rather "trudging" up the last 2 miles.  1500 started 850 finished. It is tough!!!!  Loved the 22 mile long climb at the end.  Hope you do too!!!
