FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Old Highway 101 Bike Path Closures Scheduled
SAN DIEGO â€" The bike path along Old Highway 101 will be closed from Las Pulgas Road to the fence line at the southern boundary of San Onofre State Beach during daylight hours April 16 through 20 to allow for military operations in the area.
Caltrans will open the freeway shoulders along Interstate 5 from Las Pulgas Road to Basilone Road as a detour for bicyclists. Bicyclists must exit at all freeway off-ramps to avoid possible conflict with vehicles. This includes weigh stations and vista points. Bicycling along freeway shoulders is not recommended for other than expert bicyclists.
Motorists are reminded to share the road and drive alertly.
