One of our riders ended up with the wrong group yesterday, but it was a great experience and she loved the challenge. Kara visiting from Phoenix, AZ rode with Anthony's group with hills, hills, hills on her new Giant bicycle. I had breakfast with Kara this morning and she told me all about it. She thanks those that waited for her as she was in strange territory and didn't feel too bad as she wasn't the last one. She mentioned the "Purple Monster" which she rode up last year... going down was a treat this time. A wonderful 62 plus miles and beautiful scenery and an amazing route. She will have great stories to tell her friends from "Flat" land AZ. The 4,900 ft elev..... YIKES! Kara thanks NCCC for a fantastic ride. I must say, "she is a trooper".

Kara's new Giant bicycle :)
Hi Peg,
Kara came up to me and introduced herself and we talked about which group she wanted to ride with and I told her we'd be climbing a lot and the pace would be quick. She seemed fine with it and so off we went. She was never last although we were stretched out quite a bit. I waited for her along with Steve and Steve and one of the regular riders who's name escapes me. She did great, I thought she'd hit a wall on the back end of the ride but didn't and we finished, I think, just 10-20 minutes behind the majority of the group (I rolled past the parking lot and rode my 10 more miles back home.)
Yes, she was a trooper and it was a beautiful day up through highland valley, on 67, down scripps and back to OCRR.

Peg,
Good to hear. We had two new riders with the regular group. Marty is local San Diego and came up to check out the club. He hung on at the front and afterwards told me he had a great time and may be joining the club. Stacy is down from Seattle. He's a really nice guy and I was told afterwards that he too had a great time with the group.
