Title: Santa Barbara 100
Post by: Nigel Rodgers on May 31, 2016, 10:48:18 PM
Had the opportunity to ride up here recently. Going back October 22 for the organized century. This part is some of the best cycling I have ever done. La Cumbre Peak (elevation 4000ft) then continues along East Camino Cielo before an exhilarating descent down Painted Cave and Old San Marcos. Be great to have a North County group participate. Below is a youtube video of the course. It is pretty much the same except they didn't have the checkpoints last year. The start of the ride can be intense and fast as people don't separate until the first hill at mile 15.

I'm interested in going up, for the century or maybe the metric century.
This video about the Gibraltar climb is appealing
