Only second time being a ride leader. Won't make this mistake again.

Thanks
Better yet, please don't change times or start locations once they've been posted on the list of rides for the month unless for weather where it would make sense - and be obvious - for riders to check the forum.
This change that went out to a select group of people was quite frustrating and highly unusual for NCCC (I've never known this to happen before). I never thought we had to check the forum before each and every ride.
THAT said, I know ride leaders are volunteering their time so thanks for that.
It is better to check the website weekly, instead of assuming that ride schedules loaded at the beginning of the month remain static. I know some riders mark their calendar once at the beginning of the month, do not revisit the website, and then have an issue. Reason to change is not at all obvious. Just this month, Long Sat and Sun rides were switched around due to ride leader conflicts and just last week, a Sat Reg Roadies ride swapped dates. These things happen and I would say once every month or two is not rare. So there is nothing as an "obvious" reason to those outside the ride leaders' circle why things might change. When notified early enough, we always update the website and sometime even note a change from the schedule at the beginning of the month. When the change happens at the last minute, usually for more of an "obvious" reason like weather or fire (for this time of year), the NCCC Forum is the best way for a ride leader to get out a notification.
But, honestly, how hard is it the night before a ride, to do a quick check on the Forum? Each ride has prominent instructions to do so, and it's one mouse click.

Thanks again Jim for responding to the glitch. It's a lot of work and responsibility to take on the ride leadership. It would be helpful for the club to have a 'cheat sheet' (with seasoned leaders contact information) for new ride leaders and for prior ride leaders to be available for reference on insights about how they accommodated the group's dynamics.
FWIW, I personally check the website every Friday night before Saturday rides to refresh my memory about the ride and load the ride onto my RidewithGPS app on my phone. As of today I will check the forum; but, of course, that would have done me no good for this particular ride where the ride leader did not show up nor post to the forum.
