Title: Dura Ace CN-7900 Chain - anyone tried it with Dura Ace 7800 crankset?
Post by: Jeff Levin on March 05, 2009, 08:26:25 PM
Shimano just brought out the CN-7900 chain - it's an asymmetric design designed to move up and down the cogs and cranks more efficiently.
Has anyone tried it? And, has anyone tried it with a Dura Ace 7800 crankset? Shimano says they are not compatible, but who knows... Finally, has anyone tried this chain with a SRAM 11-28 cassette?

I am at this moment getting my 7900 drive train put on my bike.  It took till now for Shimano to ship a 170 compact crank

I asked Bill Holland if the 7900 chain could go on a 7800.  He had already asked around.  You should only use a 7900 crank  with a 7900 chain   but  you can use the the 7900 chain with a 7800 drive train.  He had asked to his dealer in Irvine who said  it worked without a problem.  Although he told me that the info printout that comes with the chain says the opposite.

About SRAM I did not ask.

Let us know if you try either and how it works..

Wow. the 7900 sure looks nice.   Test ride this weekend!!  Happy Birthday ME   and Barbie Doll.. she sure maintains her youth a lot better and she doesn't even ride.....
