Hi NCCC gruppo,
You're cordially invited to join us on a training ride next Saturday, May 9!
We'll be doing the first loop(or close to it) of the upcoming San Diego 1000K Brevet route.
This is quite a fun scenic route, perhaps laced with a few suprises too!
We'll start at the official start location on Hotel Circle, near Old Towne and go south before we head east out Otay Lakes Road, Hwy. 94 through Campo and on past Jacumba. From there we turn around and follow old Hwy. 80 westward past the wind turbines and up to Mt. Laguna.
From there it's down to Julian, Ramona and Lakeside before heading west and back to the start.
This isn't a race, but we should adhere to the liberal time control limits imposed by RUSA.
There are no extreme climbs(sorry!) on this route, the toughest being out of Barrett Junction on the way to Campo. The elevation gain will only be around 12,000' in the 200+ miles.
There are ample services along the way, but come prepared in typical Randonneur style with bottles, lights and adequate clothing.
This route is recommended for the more astute riders with a sense of adventure!
I'll be doing the SS thing and taking pictures!
