Post by: kellyjay on September 30, 2009, 12:14:25 PM
Riders,
If the Hemet Double or the Poway Century isn't enough of a challenge, check this out!

We'll be riding the RUSA approved ToughRider 200 route this Saturday.

START at  Bonsall AM/PM at 7:00 AM.
Fallbrook, DeLuz, Tenaja Rd/Wilderness Trail through Cleveland National Forest, Lake Elisnore, Old DeLuz Rd., Sandia Creek back to Fallbrook.....87miles.. you can return to the start in Bonsall or continue on...

Rainbow, Temecula, Pala, Old Lilac Road, Circle R and back to Bonsall....43 miles

There are 2 sections of dirt roads, ridable with road tires and 11,000' of climbing.
The full route has only been ridden 2x before!

This is a great ride with quiet lonely roads.
For map, routeslip & elevation info, check out:
http://www.sandiegorandonneurs.com/permanents.html

I also have a ride report if you are really interested!

It's a triple bottle route.
Weather looks cooler and all looks well.

If you haven't been ridden any of the Main Divide Roads, it's a great chance to check it out.

Riding will be done at Rando pace.. 15mph flatlands, and top o' hill regroups.
Bring your camera for this one!

For more info, post up or email me @ kelzee2@hotmail.com

If you can't remember it, it wasn't a epic ride,
kellyjay

Actually, this is one of the epic Long rides which we do a few times a year, either on Saturday or Sunday. See http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Wilderness-Trail We also have pictures in the Photo Gallery (http://northcountycycleclub.com/photoGallery/2007/slides/DSCF0014.htm) of cresting at Los Gatos (29%).

enjoy the ride...
Title: Close, but no hot fudge sundae!

Hi Karl,
Yes, the first part of the ToughRider is similar to the Wilderness ride you do each year. I secured a few ideas after talking to you and Lee last year about the route. Thanks for the tips.
There are a few mods to the route back to Fallbrook. After that, the route continues up to Rainbow for some more climbing and dirt road action before heading back to Bonsall and a hot fudge sundae at Mac's! Go Figure...

29%? Is that what LG is? Shucks, I didn't know it was that steep!
No wonder I had to get out and push the Madison up!
Guess I need one of the Garmin thingies.
Dan O. wouldn't have been proud of me!

ride safe,
kellyjay
