Post by: kellyjay on November 15, 2009, 06:09:03 AM
NCCC Riders,

Mike Berry, SDRando RBA, has invited us to join him on Saturday for a ride on the quiet East County roads.

This is a great chance to explore some new roads with friends!

We leave from behind Major Cafe in Pine Valley at 8:00 AM.
The route is 102K/60miles.
Only 3200' climbing.

Weather is forecast for low 60's and sunny, with low winds.

Car-pooling is in effect.

Routeslip & Map at:
http://sandiegorandonneurs.com/permanents.html

This is a RANDONNEURS USA approved route.

Brief route overview:
Short climb east out of Pine Valley before a long downhill on Old Hwy. 80 past the INS checkpoint.
Rural no traffic roads as we turn South on La Posta Rd down to new-resurfaced Hwy. 94. Then east up some rollers, under the SanDiego & Arizona "High Bridge" to Boulevard for a break.
Gentle climb westward past the wind farms, downhill to the turn onto Kitchen Creek for a climb up to Mt. Laguna! Then it's the "best downhill in the State" via Sunrise Highway back 10 mi. to Pine Valley.

Be prepared for a cool start, esp. the first downhill.
Bring you cameras for some great shots too!
There are multi regroup spots.

thanks & see you soon,

PS: Sam... there are NO gravel roads on this route, so you can bring your 13 lb racing bike with sew ups!
