Title: Bike for loan?
Post by: wbturek@yahoo.com on February 01, 2011, 07:26:32 AM
Before I go out and rent one, I was wondering if any of you wonderful club members had a second bike I could borrow?  My father is coming for a visit from Minnesota (not much riding there this time of year) later this month between Feb. 23 - March 1st and needs a 53-54.  Needless to say, I'd be responsible for any damages, and we could negotiate a rental rate.  Please reply, email me at wbturek@yahoo.com, call or text to 760-532-5479.

Thanks,

Bill Turek

Bill - I have two bikes. A 1983 Pinarello, campy and sun tour superb 60cm. I have a smaller 1971 Italian Chiorda, campy with TA triple, which is set up for commuting. The Chiorda would probably fit best but is heavier. However, we had an English visitor for a month riding NCCC long rides who loved the Pinarello with the seat lowered. Your father can try both if you don't get anything more modern. This is a freebie.

Thanks a lot. I think the Pinarello would be too big.  How big is the Chiorda?

The Chiorda is about 54 cm. It is not marked and I don't have a real measurement for it. If you decide you want it, don't give up on the Pinarello - our English friend, Nigel, who was quite a bit shorter than I (and way stronger) really liked the Pinarello as I do as well - it is a classic, silky smooth Columbus SL ride. The Chiorda is older Columbus steel.

Karl -

Thanks, but I think we'll just go with a rental from Moment Cycle Sport - I really appreciate you willing to step up, though!  It's nice to be a member of a club that cares!
