Would you like to hold a bicycle rodeo at your children's school?
Thanks to a $10,000.00 grant from SANDAG the City of Oceanside Bicycle Committee is able to put on bike rodeos at local schools. Kathy Keenan and the San Diego Bicycle Coalition got us this grant, thank you Kathy. All of us NCCC members are SDBC members, thank you NCCC. We had 60 kids and their families show up yesterday, 100 at the last rodeo at Reynolds Elementary - click here for photo (http://northcountycycleclub.com/photoGallery/2011/slides/IMG_1529.htm). Many of the kids and family members will keep riding, some will eventually be riding with us the NCCC. Carol Carr, Gretchen, myself and other members of NCCC along with members of the City Committee volunteered to run the event. Mark Castro of Omega Bikes in Oceanside again donated his portable shop where he repaired most of the bikes so they met our safety standards, http://www.omegabikeshop.com/. Check out the pictures in the photo section. Unfortunately I was so busy pumping tires, fitting helmets etc. I did not have time to take more than a couple of quick pics at the very start! It was a lot of fun getting the next generation of riders on the road. If anyone would like to drop by at a future rodeo (from 9AM to noon) please email Howard LaGrange at: howard@pacificturbine.com and/or Carole May at: carolemay@cox.net.
