Title: Your NCCC Insurance
Post by: Karl Rudnick on June 01, 2011, 07:57:53 AM
Recently, questions have come up, both among NC3 board members and riders, about just what our club insurance provides. Best answers are found by reading the short http://www.amerspec.com/lab/faq.pdf which answers many questions regarding how you're covered under general liabiilty while riding with the club, how ride leaders are protected from getting sued, etc.

Having this insurance is so important while riding, which is why we've all been encouraged to renew our membership by May 31 (yesterday). For those who have not yet renewed, this does put you and NCCC at risk on rides, which is why you may be asked to sign separate waivers just to do a single ride - this slows down ride starts and creates extra burden for your ride leaders, who would prefer to spend most of their time ensuring you have a good route and someone to lead every weekend. So, please, it's easy to sign up online (http://northcountycycleclub.com/web/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=75&Itemid=59) this year. Besides all the goodies which seem obvious (holiday and July 4 get-togethers, this website, clothing discounts), remember that one of  the most important things you get with your membership is our club insurance so you don't need to worry what happens when you run into that shiny Mercedes...

Thanks to your president, John Wellwood, we have a nice, short summary of the NCCC insurance we have via the League of American Bicyclists (LAB). Please visit the new web page under Members > Club Insurance (http://northcountycycleclub.com/web/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=80&Itemid=145).
