Title: 18 y/o New Resident to the San Marcos area and looking for some rides!
Post by: ErikLamkin on December 12, 2011, 08:39:06 PM
Hi everyone!

I'm a new resident to the area of San Marcos, as I've just started going to Cal State San Marcos and am living on campus here as well.
I'm 18 years old and have been into road cycling for almost a full year now. I started about 9 months ago when I bought my first real road bike, a Fuji Roubaix 2.0
with just some basic components on it.

I immediately fell in love with sport and quickly started doing 60-70 mi rides, commuting to and from school everyday and riding after school on the coast (Cardiff, encinitas, torrey pines, ect).

Unfortunately I had developed a tumor in my chest area which required surgery and required me to be off the bike for 4 whole months, which was a major bummer. So I took that time off, and 4 months later needed money so
I ended up selling my fuji. A month later I wanted to get back into the sport again so I bought, a GT Series 2 Road Bike with a SRAM Groupset and with APEX components for a KILLER deal. Fast forward to now and I've been riding
SOLO for the past 3 months or so around the area of San Marcos/Vista and I'm looking for a good group to ride with.

I'm only doing 20-25 mi, per day on the weekends right now but am working my way up to start doing 40-50 milers again very soon.

Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself and ask to be pointed in the direction of where to register for some rides and to get acquainted (in person) with some of you guys!

Thanks for reading!

Erik

Good morning Eric
We ride every Saturday at 8:30 AM from the parking lot behind Old Restaurant Row on San Marcos Blvd.
Look for the bikes west of Fish House Vera Cruz and north of Tony Roma's.
Check in with the regular ride leader fill out a waiver and pick up a route slip.
You can expedite your check in by joining up on line on our web site and downloading the route.
Click on 'roadies' then keep clicking links to the routes.

Hello Paul,

I appreciate your response. Where can I get a waiver? Do these need to be obtained from the ride leader? The same with the route slips?

Thanks again for your response!
