Club Rides & Events / Eliel Store is Open for Jersey...
Last post by Sean Brennan - October 17, 2022, 06:32:58 PM
Fellow Members,

The Eliel store has been open for jersey purchase. The design and color are exactly the same as the current Eliel jerseys.

NOTE: The only style of jersey being offered is the Malibu jersey in both men's and women's. The Malibu jersey is the looser fitting "club fit" style of jersey. Last time we offered two styles, the Rincon, tighter fit and the Malibu, looser fit.

There will not be any trial fit event so ask your fellow club members about the fit of their jerseys.

The store will close on October 31st at midnight and then the jerseys will be delivered approximately 9 weeks AFTER the store closes so around the end of the year.

Shop well and let me know if you have any questions.

Castelli Donna Endurance Bibs

I bought Patty a pair of bibs for her birthday but they are a bit too tight. I can't return them it's been too long since I bought them.
Latest design to allow a bath break without having to remove your jersey and the pad that moves with your body which eliminates any chafing.
Bought for $159 (+tax) size small, yours for $100. Check out the size chart on the website.

Bicycle Education & Advocacy / Gov Newsom signs the Bike Omni...
Last post by karlos - September 30, 2022, 11:44:59 AM
The governor signed AB1909 on Friday 9/16.
https://cal.streetsblog.org/2022/09/16/governor-signs-a-raft-of-climate-bills/

Key provisions of this omnibus bill:

1) class 3 ebikes no longer prohibited on bike paths.
2) bikes may proceed on WALK signal (commencing 1/1/23).
3) drivers passing bikes must change lanes to pass (if there is an adjacent lane).

https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220AB1909

Note that Item (1) has a direct effect on our NCCC e-bike policy where we asked anyone on a Class 3 e-bike to not ride on Class I multi-use bike paths (like the San Luis Rey path and the new North Coast Trail + sections of the Coastal Rail Trail). These e-bikes, capable of speeds up to 28 mph while only pedaling, can now ride with us everywhere. Remember, "It's not about what you ride, but how you ride." If you're riding a Class 3 e-bike, refrain from throwing your arms up for KOM points and hold back from motopacing the whole group from the front ... just enjoy your e-assisted ride  8) .

Club Rides & Events / Saturday Long Ride 9/10 Rain E...
Last post by Sean Brennan - September 09, 2022, 06:59:09 PM
Saturday Long Riders,

Weather.com say that in San Marcos there is a 11% chance of rain at 8:00AM tomorrow 9/10. The percentage chance of rain stays below 25% all day. At this point the ride is a go however, if things change or the roads are very wet, your ride leader will not be riding, and you are on your own.

I have created this alternative/optional ride which keeps us close to home so that if it does rain, our wet time is minimized.

We can decide in the AM what to do.

Club Rides & Events / Sep 10 Clipper Ride Cancelled
Last post by kcpurcell - September 09, 2022, 10:05:48 AM
The weather service is predicting rain for Saturday morning in Oceanside, so tomorrow's (Sep 10) Clipper ride is cancelled.

(Or at least this ride leader isn't going to be there. There was some idle talk on Wednesday about riding in the rain sounding nice...)

Website / Major software version update ...
Last post by karlos - August 22, 2022, 05:09:54 PM
It was time to upgrade to the latest version of our NCCC Forum, powered by Simple Machines Forum software. I tried to maintain the same look and feel as previous versions with minimum customization for sustainability. If you are logged on as an NCCC member (you'll see "nccc" below posters who are members), then you will have the ability to "like" posts that you find useful. Let me know if there are any hiccups as a result of the upgrade.

Last post by karlos - August 13, 2022, 12:21:43 AM
Just a note that our official website is now better accessed at https://northcountycycleclub.org. We own both domains northcountycycleclub.org and northcountycycleclub.com (which we have used forever), but since our bike club is not a commercial entity, the .org domain is preferred. This has been set up so that you can still use northcountycycleclub.com as you may have saved that in bookmarks and in other links. All our website content can still be accessed through northcountycycleclub.com and you will notice that northcountycycleclub.org, though, will appear in your browser address bar.

Since this is brand new, there could be a few hiccups, so don't hesitate to post anything here that seems broken or weird to you. Over time, try to preface all NCCC website locations with https://northcountycycleclub.org
