It was a bit cold at the start. So we stayed warm until we left.

So.. do you know what statement they are making?

I think the naked bike ride was originally started to bring attention to the problem of cyclists not being seen.

It seemed like most people were there with that intention. But others were there to protest cars, oil, or pollution in general. It was kind of like a party with scantily clad body painted people on bikes laughing and having a good time. Lots of cruiser type bikes. A girl on a skateboard. Some people would join in once they saw us go by. About 20 miles through Hillcrest, North Park, downtown via Pershing, the stadium, the harbor, and back.
San Diego has some pretty stringent rules on nudity. We were given a paper with San Diego's definition of public nudity. A police woman went around making sure that we all complied. The women were scrutinized the most. :o Guys weren't allowed to wear thongs. There were about 5 police cars and one paddy wagon following us. We lost them by going on bike paths near the stadium/convention center. They always found us though.
Most people/tourists that we saw would smile, cheer, clap, wave, or take pictures. Some would not even look our way even if you said hello to them. A smaller group this year as opposed to last year. But still just as much fun. I asked one of the police women in the car escorting us if she wished she were riding with us. She nodded yes and smiled.
