Oceanside traffic enforcement

You all know by now that Oceanside police are ticketing cyclists who blow stop signs. The traffic supervisor tells me they target intersections where they get complaints, such as the North Coast Village condos. The number of complaints and the number of different persons complaining determines where they target enforcement. The North Coast Village condos are one of the most egregious entities that block our bike lanes. If you see any blocked bike lane or other instance endangering cyclists in Oceanside please email: Leonard Mata <LMata@ci.oceanside.ca.us>; Howard La Grange <howard@pacificturbine.com>; and Pete Penseyres <cyclovet11@yahoo.com>. The more of us who complain and the more often the better the police will enforce our rights.

Do not hesitate to send similar complaints in Vista, Encinitas, Solana Beach and San Marcos to the Sheriff's office, the city manager's office and as many council members as you think may be sympathetic to cyclists.

Post the incidents here on the message board so other members can chime in.

Seems like it's easier to just stop at the stop signs.
