Anyone interested in the Tour de Poway ride:
I will be hosting a bbq on Sat, Sept 19th for the purpose of seeing all the people I ride with, without helmets.  I've been known not to recognize people if they show up on a different bike or different kit.  All kidding aside, anyone and their spouse is welcome to come by and have some grub and drinks.  We will discuss the Tour de Poway, although that will probably be a side note.  Just a great excuse to do something different with everyone.  I've really enjoyed riding with everyone since February or March.

I know a few people that will be coming for sure, but add to this thread if you are interested.  That way I can get an idea of how many people will be coming over and we can figure out the details of food and drinks.  I will provide all of the basics, hamburgers, hot dogs, bbq chicken, etc.  If you want any specialty, you'll have to bring it.  We'll be looking for a hand with drinks and any salads.  Basic stuff, nothing fancy.

I was thinking an afternoon get together, 4-8.  Hopefully, it won't be too hot.  Shouldn't be but you never know.  Hope to see all of you over here.  Don't hesitate to come over and get to know everyone.  I'm sure I've ran into (not really) all of you at one time or another if you are on the board.

I'll post up my address later for everyone.  Call or post up here and I'll get all information out.

BBQ will be from 4-7 or 8ish.  A few people are confirmed, but all in the club who are interested in the Tour de Poway or not are invited.  Looks like the metric century (62 miles) is what most people will be going for.  I just did a version of this ride last Sunday and it appeared to be almost 5k of climbing.  Sounds like a typical club ride to me.  Poway Road grade right out of the gate will be challenging with cold legs, but it's a pretty pleasant ride after that.

Doesn't look like the turnout will be overwhelming, so the only request would be to bring your own drinks if you want something special.  We will have the basics (water, soda, light beer).  We will be bbq'ing hamburgers, chicken, sausauge and probably hot dogs as well.

HI,
Mike, the new guy here, awesome of you to host a BBQ, sorry won't be able to make it, I have work this weekend.  Enjoy!  I plan on doing the Poway Metric or 50, like to find out what most folks are doing.
Cheers,
AveMike

Mike,

Sorry you can't make it to the bbq.  I think we'll probably be doing the metric century, but we'll decide on Saturday.  Anyone else coming, other than Joe and Chip?

We'll post up the results and any details for the ride itself next week.

Steve

Hope the BBQ was great!  I won't be riding this weekend either - family time, but I do plan on riding the Century or 50, depending on what the gang is doing.  Please post your decision - like to sign up prior to the deadline for the lower fee - 27th.  Also if you can post where/when meeting prior - that would be great!
Thanks!
