Just thought I would share this link with those of you that are interested in the science of sport.
There is an analysis of Usain Bolt's 100 meter @ 9.58 sec world record in Berlin this past weekend. Between 60 a 80 meters he was going 27.7 mph!! His stride was about 8 feet per step over the whole race! He is 6' 5" tall and weighs 205 lbs. Get on your bike and go 27 miles an hour. Look around and imagine that a human being was running that fast. That is pretty amazing.
This website also has some analysis on the climbs from the Tour De France as well as a bunch of other things to read about relating to the sceince of sport. Sort of fun reading while I eat my lunch here at work.
Enjoy.
