The weather looks very promising for a ride to Laguna Beach. This ride has about 50 miles of flat and rolling terrain and about 15 miles of hills above Laguna Beach. If you don't like hills you can turn around at mile 25 and have a lovely coastal cruise. However, the hills are fantastic, mostly residential, with never ending views of the ocean and mountains. The high point is an area called "Top of the World", so you get the idea.

We'll go inland before reaching downtown Laguna Beach, thereby avoiding most of the traffic on congested roads. From near the top there is a neat paved trail running along a ridgeline that gets us back toward the coast. Total ride is 65 miles with over 4500 feet of climbing. I suggest we hold off on a lunch break until we get back to Dana Point Harbor at mile 46.

You can drive north on I-5 and exit at Las Pulgas. If bicycling, you need a pass (should be gotten ahead of time) to bike through Camp Pendleton or you are allowed to bike on the freeway, clean wide shoulder, noisy, and 7.5 miles.

The pace will be moderate, no racing, regrouping along the way, and we'll stick together especially when we go inland. I'm sending this to a few groups and it is open to everyone. Call or email me if you have any questions.
