There will be a Memorial Service for John Wellwood - one of our Club Members and also a former Club President.  He passed away last week.

John's son - John Jr. (he has ridden with the club several times in the past when he came down from Oregon to visit his dad) thought that for those that remember John, it would be nice to have a little memorial service to include the NCCC club cyclists.

I am so sorry to hear this, Peg. John was such a good man, a good friend, and a great NCCC President. NCCC organization is better off for his taking the reins in 2010 - Cruisers resurrection, restructured Bylaws, membership with the League of American Bicyclists, insurance coverage, online membership software, fun NCCC Board meetings, to name just a few. I will miss him and plan to be there on Wednesday.

It was a pleasure and an honor to have been on the board with John, we had a lot fun rides together before his neck eventually gave him too much pain to ride. I'll be there.

Thank you Karl and Paul,

John Wellwood Jr. - called me and mentioned that he was so very happy that NCCC remembered his father. He loved what you both said about John Sr. too.

Sorry I was unable to make it though, untimely passing of my Kids father and memorial stuff to deal with the same day and time.

I genuinely appreciate you were able to represent North County Cycle Club.

Diane Martin was very instrumental with the event program planning.  Getting the pastor to do the presentation, food shopping and getting the Silverado staff to set up for John's memorial.

And Diane stepped up with some truly great stories about John. I hadn't realized that she had such a close relationship with John and his wife outside of cycling. Diane could have done the whole service on her own in a pinch. It was a very warm event and Pastor Jim Brown kept it lively and interesting. Thanks for inviting us, Peg.
